These two drawings with an ink stamp were our contribution to Micheál O’Connell’s (Mocksim) project titled ABCOA.

ABC Artists’ Books Cooperative and friends, were invited to contribute to this project. Each participant supplied a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) but with the CoA itself being the artefact. In other words, each document referenced itself.

Mocksim

Although not strictly used as our Certificate of Authenticity (CoA), we decided to incorporate an ink stamp design from several years earlier, adding a single drawn line beneath each stamp. In doing so, we were interested in how the textual stamp, or CoA, could serve a dual role, functioning as a visual element in the drawing that signifies a pair of nipples on breasts.
